Religious Education
Religious Education (RE) at Featherstone Primary School
At Featherstone Primary School, Religious Education (RE) is taught in accordance with the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus. Our RE curriculum aims to develop children's knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other major religions, whilst promoting respect, tolerance, inclusion and an appreciation of different faiths, beliefs and cultures.
Through engaging lessons, discussions, stories and practical experiences, pupils are encouraged to explore their own beliefs, develop an understanding of others and reflect on important values such as kindness, fairness, responsibility and respect.
Parents' Right to Withdraw
Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from Religious Education. This right can be exercised without providing a reason. Parents wishing to withdraw their child should contact the Headteacher, either verbally or in writing. Appropriate alternative supervision arrangements will be made for pupils who are withdrawn from RE lessons.
For full information, please see our Religious Education Policy, located under the 'Welcome and Information' section of our school website.
